Where to Sell NFT Art

No matter if you’re a digital artist or a collector, if you haven’t made the switch from traditional art, now is the time to do it. NFTs provide the perfect way to buy, sell, and trade art and other collectibles in a digital manner. Let’s look at the best places to sell NFT art.

Your Own Website

One way to sell your NFTs is by using your own website. While this can provide you with a good amount of control, the initial setup can be quite expensive and more complex than listing on a secondary marketplace. In some cases, you may want to set up a website and then link to an external NFT marketplace. This can help establish an NFT brand while taking advantage of all of the benefits and features an NFT platform can provide.

Selling on a secondary marketplace as a creator means you’ll be giving up a degree of control over your art, but will have to deal with significantly less technical struggles. You may be required to pay commission or service fees, but this comes with more exposure and typically better security.

Marketplaces

An NFT marketplace is a website where non-fungible tokens (NFTs) can be bought, sold, and traded. These websites make it easier to find a venue where a trade might occur, and they often charge a fee for their services. Some focus on a certain specialization, while others work with every sort of NFT available. A Web3 wallet is required to interact with an NFT and NFT marketplace, and the base currency of the blockchain you’re working on is required to buy (and sometimes list) an NFT.

OpenSea is the largest NFT marketplace on the Ethereum blockchain. There are, however, a variety of other options: Rarible specializes in curated artworks, SuperRare only auctions NFT art, and Foundation only auctions NFT art. Some projects, such as CryptoPunks and LiveArt, even have their own internal NFT marketplace. Currently, of the most notable blockchains, Ethereum, BSC, Avalanche, Solana, and Polygon, are supported by OpenSea.

NFTrade is a great all-around marketplace with multi-chain functionality. Creators and NFT traders can use the marketplace to buy and sell NFTs on Ethereum, Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Moonbeam, ImmutableX, and SKALE.

Auctions

The digital migration of the art market, which has traditionally been sluggish to accept innovation, has been expedited by online auction platforms. While this may seem unsurprising given the recent headlines about NFTs taking over the art world, it is all the more intriguing that online auctions have continued to drive strong physical art distribution.

Though online auctions have done their best to make the conventional art market pertinent for younger audiences, they have also permitted auctioneers to test out a new aspect of the art business: NFTs. Undoubtedly, institutional auction houses (such as Christie’s) are starting to take notice of the continuous rise in customer confidence in this new breed of collectible.
